What a weekend

Saturday morning was taken up with our Country Market at Swanmore currently we hold them 5 times a year, we get good support when we visit but like a lot of ventures it would be lovely if it grew just a bit bigger.

The weather...well who could wish for better...shorts & suntan cream a must.

Saturday afternoon was Swanmore Gift & Craft Fair this time actually selling my cookies to the public, I had some good feedback and sales so I feel enthused with this one.

Cookies are my new business project I will save that one for another day with lots of pics.

Ice cold cider awaits.....have a good one

Bank Holiday decorating

We have perused the colours... bought the paint...now we are to join the Bank Holiday Decorating gang., memberships are available at your nearest DIY store that sounds like a buzzy thing lining up for something.

Decided on one red feature wall...a must these days...then your rather bland neutral play it safe other walls...

We're not really very good DIYers so will probably get bored about 11am when the tea is brewed but one wall might get done.

Good luck all other DIYers on one of our national DIY days.

Psychobabble

Why does my dog wake me up so early...is he that desperate for a wee. Oh well nice cup of tea, how's everyone doing is life treating you well.

I was listening to the radio the other day and a psycho...something person was talking about how most of us live in the 'grey' area of life and thats ok if we are happy and satisfied with that but if not come out of that grey by changing something even if its taking a different route to work.
Also when fear or stress take hold they can surpress your immune system making you feel ill so maybe holding you back or stopping you doing that thing you are worried about.

Very interesting..... complex things us humans don't you think.

Enjoy your Sunday

 The Mail Online
"Oldest unrestored Mini found and sells for £40,000 this car was new in 1959".

I owned an original 1979 Mini, loved it... cute as anything, mine didn't sell for quite that much but it was my first car, slighty temperamental, owning an old car is not easy.... now I own a newer car I would not go back.  Maggie May went to live with a new family..is it just girls who name their cars.

Tra for now

Budgets

Has anyone else calculated their food costs, I did a quick tot up
Approx cost for Breakfast, lunch, dinner and some fruit for 3 people
  • £13.50 per day
  • £94.50 per week
  • £378 per month (4 weeks)
This does not include any wine, treats, toiletries, cleaning products and anything else you can think of.

I have a plan to budget our basic expenses, all the above and pet foods to £500 in a 4 week month on paper it should work, otherwise it feels we are just working to live.

Would be interested in anyone elses household management plans.

Have a good day.

Sleepover of son's girlfriend

I knew it was going to happen 'Mum is it ok if my girlfriend sleeps over?'

She seems like a nice girl..they are both only 17 and they are in love....Ahhhh, I can remember being that age.

'Yes son that's fine ...BUT...one sleeps upstairs and one sleeps down.'

Life moves on!!!

Family visit

Tis Easter Sunday and I have spent most of Saturday baking some goodies for today , we have the in-laws and my sister in-law and family here today.  Actually I really enjoy their company pretty lucky I guess.

We chat about crafts and us three women all have a great interest in home produced things we'd be the ideal candidates to open a little craft/tea shop but thats another venture.

Judging by the weather I think it is a day indoors keeping the kids occupied on the Wii comes in handy on days like this.

Back to the washing up

Have a Great Day All

Hot Cross Buns

Easy peasy buns recipe
Ingredients
  1. 450g bread flour
  2. 50g castor sugar
  3. 1 teaspn salt
  4. 1 teaspn mixed spice
  5. 4 teaspns dried yeast
  6. 50g butter (room temperature cut into sml pieces)
  7. 2 tablespoons dried milk
  8. 190ml lukewarm water
  9. 1egg beaten
  10. Breadmaker pan
  11. 150g mixed fruit
Add the ingredients in order as shown, I use a breadmaker
but by hand is fine just use nice large bowl.

Breadmaker goes on dough programme if by hand
give a good knead for about 20 minutes.

What you want to end up with
 is a lovely pliable dough.
Buns ready to rise

Dough

Divide into 12 equal balls place on
a well greased baking tin.

These need to rise in a nice warm  place (not too warm though)  til about double in size.

Piping tube
After rising time to add the cross on the top.
To make the cross mix 50g fat (margarine is fine) with 120g plain flour add a spoonful of water at a time until you end up with a sloppy mixture it should  fall of the spoon. This is easiest piped on I use a piping tube with a medium nozzle.

Piped and ready to bake
When piping  the buns just go
in one straight line across all of
them don't worry about going
over any excess will come off
after baking.

Bake in a preheated oven 200c
10 minutes they should look just browned
and smell delicious. Whilst they are in the oven prepare the sugar glaze
to brush on. In a microwavable jug mix 2 tablespoons sugar with 2
tablespoons milk, heat in microwave just to dissolve sugar no more. As soon as they are out of oven
place on a cooling rack and brush with sugar glaze...leave to cool.

Then ENJOY!!!

Happy Easter
